So as it turns out, my piso or apartment, is right next to the train station! Lucky me, if I was to visit other parts of Spain more often, and I think a second trip to Sevilla and Barcelona are in the make. My short walk to my house, led by my new host family, inclueded la "Mercadona" a supermarket right underneath my apartment building, and tattoo shop across the street from us. My host parents, Amelia and Juan, took me to the plaza, and to see the mezquita, after everything was settled in my wonderful room! After a couple of failed plans with the old Spanish tutor at Wellesley, and my room mate from the Casa Cervantes where I lived on campus, I had a grand reunion with Maria Lovera de los angeles, with a tour of her favorite places. Thank God she introduced me to Cafe Automatico, a wonderful music bar where they play anything from motown to Belle and Sebastian, my high-school dream band. We then went to a Nirvana cover show at The Underground, a bar infamous for being empty until 3am.
After some time, the program then took us to see some (roman?) ruins right here in Cordoba, and here I am in front of them. There was also a pretty garden area.
We visited some ruins from the time of the caliphs, and you can see them in my picture with Lourdes. But in Zahueros, a pueblo in la sierra or the mountains, where we saw a castle like tower, [in the pic with blonde haired Shelby, my phtographer] we had an endless lunch with sangria and finally a chocolate pastry . Both of these places are nearby Cordoba.
But lately, I've been spending some time at my friend Lourdes' piso, and you can even see the view from her place, isn't it nice? We pass our time by dance-drying her pants when the dryer dosnt work. Lourdes, also my photographer, also was in the Puebla, Mexico program with me. A little bit of L.A. style always comes with us on our trips.
