Feb. 8th- A FREE day, El Prado Museum

My absolute favorite painting at El Prado museum in Madrid was El saturno, devouring his son. It was in the pinturas negras room. Lovely lovely cannibalism.

We stopped by a statue of Cervantes and Sancho Panza, in the Plaza de España. Complete with Cervantes himself overlooking his characters and the two women of the Quijote who are supposed to represent the ideal and the reality in our lives. But all I have is a picture of me stepping off the statue, right by the butt of Sancho's horse. Whatever works.

Speaking of FOOD, I don't know what we all would have done without the cheap and good MUSEO DEL JAMON. You can get a bocadillo (sub sandwich) there for 1 euro. How many times did we all stand around talking about food and finally end up saying, "so then, el museo del jamon?"

  1. I first saw that Goya painting on an album cover when i was like 15 and have loved it ever since. I don't really like the other "Black Paintings" but this is cool.
