Feb. 9th-11th- So this is Barcelona

Oh how I loved Pinoccio's at the Barcelona market! I ate garbanzo beans and an empanadilla, and the beans were surprisingly flavorful. The fruit and truffles there were to die for. I even found these online pics of the very waiter that served us! I could swear that this is him, but a couple of years younger. He's grayer now.

But that was our free time. We also had tour time with the program and we went to see- drum roll please- the AMAZING La Sagrada Familia, a cathedral designed by Gaudi. Gaudi is absolutley brilliant, my favorite architect, and admittedly the only architect I know much about. I bought a cool poster for my Wellesley room at their gift store. We saw some caves in Zahueros that I could guess were the inspiration for Gaudi's work.

We got more Gaudi awe while at Park Güell (no, we are not in Mexico, lol). The buildings there that look like little cottages reminded me of toon town in Disneyland. Wonderful, that this is no theme park. I wish more of Cali looked like this.

I tried to find the barrio de literatura, without much luck. So I spontaneously joined Kelly and Michelle on a walk to the port area of Barcelona. It was a beautiful (cold and windy) day, mostly because a British man mistook me for a Spaniard and didn't notice I was American. Talk about blending in.

Finally the program paid for us to eat paella for dinner. ¡Qué guay! I sat by Nia, and played with my food a bit.
